Overview

The History Department’s courses have been designed to fulfill the general education requirements of a college degree, help prepare you for career success, and satisfy your curiosity about the region, nation, and world. The courses cover world history from ancient to early modern and contemporary times and America from its inception to the present day. In addition, the department offers a course on the Great Lakes region and a course in U.S. Business History designed for business, economics, or history majors.

Professor Alex Thomson is seeking re-election as President of the Schoolcraft College Faculty Forum.

Professor Kim Dyer presented a session at the Detroit Metro Historians Collegium which was hosted by our department on March 28.

At the 2014 Global Roundtables, Conway Jeffress thanked the history department for their leadership in digital literacy. History students presented at the event.
